2nd Aikido Friendship Demostration DVD 1

The first DVD is a digital remaster of one of the most thrilling aikido performances ever performed. Part one includes Morihiro Saito, Kenji Shimizu, and Yoshio Sugino’s lecture demonstrations from the 2nd Aikido Friendship Demonstration in Tokyo in 1986.

Morihiro Saito, 9th dan, was one of Morihei Ueshiba’s closest and most proficient students. He specialized in empty-handed techniques as well as Aiki Ken and Jo. Saito wrote several aikido publications and traveled extensively for more than 30 years, teaching aikido.

Kenji Shimizu was one of Morihei Ueshiba’s final students and came from a good judo background. He runs the independent Tendokan Dojo in Tokyo and travels to Europe frequently to deliver lectures.

Yoshio Sugino was a prewar pupil of Morihei Ueshiba and a judo and Kashima Shinto-ryu specialist. He was a master of numerous ancient weapons and traveled to Europe several times to exhibit and teach Kashima Shinto-ryu.

Each instructive and motivating presentation focuses on the most significant components of each teacher’s interpretation of their craft. The Japanese commentary is completely spoken over in English throughout the show. These performances will present you with several helpful insights that can help you advance in your aikido training.
