Comments:
Other online reviews for this DVD, which is the third in Sifu Goh’s series on Wing Chun Kung Fu, gave it three stars out of five. However, I must disagree. The sole shortcoming of this instructive piece is that its maximum playback length is only twenty-six minutes. However, if you’re a seasoned practitioner of this martial art, you won’t have any problem following along or comprehending what’s going on. This DVD is not for beginners, yet the moves may be imitated. However, if your performance in first and second form is below standard, ignore the criticism and practice even more!
This DVD would be a fantastic adjunct to one’s practice for individuals who are just starting out with third form technique. Most books and videos on the Wing Chun system do not contain the kicking form and its applications as displayed by Sifu Goh….so I believe this DVD is a bonus if you haven’t seen it or it hasn’t been part of your Wing Chun Curriculum. One may also argue that Sifu Goh’s third form differs from those of other schools…it doesn’t matter…different Sifus teach various things…which includes all three forms. What matters is the constancy of your practice; learning the Wing Chun fighting system and sticking to its principals.
Some may regard Sifu Goh’s teaching techniques to be more of a harsh style of Wing Chun linage, with a focus on strength and force. However, consistent practice will get you to the same degree of success as the gentler method. Different martial arts masters and styles are like mountain climbers at various levels or heights on the mountain; when they turn around, they all see something different, but when they reach the summit, they all see the same thing. So…my advice to you Wing Chun Guys is to get it.
