Benny Meng – Chum Kiu (The combat bridge)

Benny Meng’s Ip Man Wing Chun Series 3-4: Chum Kiu DVD and the Ving Tsun Museum

This DVD contains the video series vol. 3 Chum Kiu (The Combat Bridge) Training Exercises & Applications and vol. 4 Chum Kiu (The Combat Bridge) Training Exercises & Applications.

Yip Man allegedly remarked that if a pupil who had mastered Siu Nim Tau and Chum Kiu lost a fight, he would jump from the top of the Restaurant Workers Union. Due to the superb instruction offered in this Wing Chun lineage, he never had to make good on that vow.

Chum Kiu – Wing Chun Series Vol 3 (The Combat Bridge)
This third film in a series on the Yip Man method offered by the Ving Tsun Museum expands on the previous two cassettes, taking you into the intermediate level of training. The Chum Kiu set teaches you how to produce strength in all directions – up/down, twisting left/right, and moving forward/backward/sideways – via body harmony. It looks at the Siu Nim Tau set’s movements and methods, forms and body mechanics, qualities, concepts and strategies, and applications with the extra dimension of movement. Throughout the movie, the knowledge is given in a variety of styles, including solo, partner demonstration, and application, allowing you to witness the simplicity, directness, and efficiency of this Wing Chun lineage. (Approximately 60 minutes)

Wing Chun Series, Volume 4: Chum Kiu (The Combat Bridge) Training Exercises and Applications
This fourth video expands on the format shown in the previous three videos, delivering the Chi Sau level of exercises and drills for the Chum Kiu learner. These exercises and drills are intimately related to the Chum Kiu set, emphasizing body mechanics and introducing stepping and dynamic balance in all directions. Motions and methods, forms and body mechanics, qualities, ideas and strategies, and applications are discussed for Luk Sau, Jip Sau, Jau Sau, Teui Mah, and Don Da. By mastering these exercises and drills, the learner trains his hands and body to react spontaneously and accurately to changing conditions. (Approximately 60 minutes)
