Discovery Channel – Myths and Logic of Shaolin Kung Fu

The video’s narrative is written in English.
Explore the world of Shaolin Kung Fu, widely regarded as the first – and finest – kung fu combat style.
The film combines footage of some of the most proficient Shaolin monks showing the subtleties of the combat technique, as well as a history of the art form and an assessment of the amazing physical strength necessary.

5.0 stars out of 5 A Fantastic Inside Look At The Shaolin Temple!, October 15, 2005 Walter Morton’s “the joyful contrarian” (Venice, California, USA) – View all of my reviews (ACTUAL NAME) This review is from the book Shaolin Kung Fu Myths and Logic (DVD) Beginners and skilled martial artists can both enjoy this video.
The filmmakers received an intimate peek at the temple and the training that takes on inside, which is rarely disclosed to outsiders.
While this well-produced video provides a quick and sparse overview of the history of Shaolin and martial arts in China, it excels in depicting the contemporary status of training at the temple.
Boys often commence temple training at the age of 4 or 5, and after 5 years (at the most flexible, malleable age), they are already very proficient.
The Chinese professional sports approach – also used in their Olympic and other sports programs – of starting with thousands of applicants and narrowing it down to the best performers is also clear.
You may get a decent look at fundamental training from this DVD, and you can even try to learn some of the basic forms (which are given VERY rapidly) of Shaolin, which are rare to get from reliable sources elsewhere.
It’s entertaining to see, well-done, and a terrific martial arts documentary.

4.0 stars out of 5 Excellent Shaolin documentary, August 25, 2004. Myrick wrote (Silver Spring, MD) – View all of my reviews This review is from the book Shaolin Kung Fu Myths and Logic (DVD) One of the greatest documentaries I’ve seen about the Shaolin Temple and the Shaolin way of life.
This documentary discusses kung fu as well as chi gung and chi.
Excellent DVD.

5 stars out of 5 Shao Lin Kung Fu’s Magic and Wonder, February 27, 2009 By Jusuf Hariman (Australia) – Read my whole review (VOICE OF VINE) (REAL NAME) Amazon Purchase Verified (What exactly is this?) This review is from the book Shaolin Kung Fu Myths and Logic (DVD) I am a Chinese-born Indonesian (my chinese name is Liem Som Hay).
I was born on 6 September 1954.
I began studying in Wu Tang Kung Fu and Ju Jit Su when I was 13 years old.
When I moved to Australia, I was a senior instructor at that Kung Fu School and a black belt in Ju Jit Su.
Kung Fu, or Kun Tao as it is known in Indonesia, is seen negatively.
It is inferior to Judo, Karate, and Ju Jit Su.
This is mostly due to the fault of the Kun Tao’s teachers.
They exclusively accept Chinese students and take their most devastating strategies with them to their death.
All of this makes me want to see “Myths and Logic of Shao Lin Kung Fu.”
The presentation is superb.
I’ve seen it three times and want to see it again and again.
In fact, Wu Tang Kung Fu is a descendant of Shao Lin Kung Fu.
It was developed by the creator of Tai Chi Chuan, a monk named Chan San Feng.
As a result, I can still detect numerous parallels.
If you enjoy this film, you can get it on Amazon.com: (1). And this is Kung Fu (2). Dragons of the East
You will have many hours of sheer delight.
