Dog Brothers – Cycle Drills
We addressed key concepts regarding protecting the head and responding with both linear and angular footwork in “Combining Stick & Footwork” and “Attacking Blocks” (the Snaggletooth and the Diamond).
In this DVD, we apply these concepts, as well as many new ones, to the footwork of “lower canines” (inside and outside male) triangles. Lower canine triangles are useful for both probing assaults (continue the attack if successful, break off if unsuccessful) and opposing aggressive linear strikes. Guro Benjamin “Lonely Dog” Rittiner (Guro Crafty’s top pupil and a well recognized fighter) demonstrates the “DBMA Cycle Drills” to develop these concepts. You will learn the following skills through these drills:
to reply with half beats to build power to install robust head protection to get a feel for the proper distance
As you have a feel for the basic “generator,” Guro Lonely Dog tells you how to:
Attack various targets from various angles.
After a counterattack, kick
Crash, clinch, and knock him out.
Attack following a side step
“Play with rhythm so that you can time your opponent.”
As is customary with DBMA, if you see it taught, you will see it contested.
