Helen Liang & Tony Chen – 5 Elements Xingyi Sword
5 Components Xingyi Sword: Xingyi is a Chinese Martial Arts internal style similar to Tai Chi and Bagua.
It is based on the five components, with each element expressing itself as a distinct combat method.
These aspects are combined to create twelve more tactics that mimic the combat abilities of the animals.
Xingyi is still used for combat training by modern military and police forces.
It is also popular for health cultivation since the guiding five element principle is similar to that of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
This one-of-a-kind Xingyi shape is for short-bladed weaponry.
It is done with either a double-edged straight sword (jian) or a single-edged curved sword (dao), with minor differences to fit the differing weapons.
One-handed or two-handed jian can be used to practice the jian form.
The dao form might employ either a common dao or an uncommon dadao.
Element 5 The first form is the Xingyi Sword.
12 Different Animals The second version is the Xingyi Sword.
Master Helen Liang and Master Tony Chen display the Xingyi Sword (assisted by Yen Fei).
Each master alternates between demonstrating the differences between jian and dao.
These masters work together to break down all of the moves into simple lessons and fundamental line exercises (Xingyi connecting sequences), as well as show the fighting applications.
