Howard H. Hoa Newens Sensei, the primary instructor, has been training and teaching Aikido since 1967 and is a 7th degree black belt according to World Headquarters.
He studied with Sensei Dang Thong Phong, 6th dan, Seiichi Sugano, 8th dan, and the late Morihiro Saito, 9th dan, over the years.
Newens Sensei is a former director of the Aikido Institute Oakland.
He presently serves on the board of Takemusu Aikido Association, a non-profit business committed to promoting Aikido, in addition to heading Aikido Institute Davis.
Since 1987, he has also studied Wu Tai Chi and Chi Kung.
Newens Sensei has released the most complete set of Aikido DVDs, Aikido Curriculum, which includes seven professionally made DVDs.
He just released “Aikido Insights,” a new book that provides the insights gathered after forty-four years of training.
