Lee Morrison – Secondary Tools – Extreme Close Quarters
A look into constrained attacking from an Extreme Close Quarters point of view is presented in this fourth installment of the Secondary Tools series.
In the clinch or other confined positions, a ballistic strike may not be viable at the moment, thus a secondary weapon is typically used to set up the chance for a more telling blow.
To redirect the target’s attention and create space for a subsequent head butt, elbow, etc., one technique is to thumb gouge the eyes.
This kind of strategy is especially useful in ECQ (Extreme Close Quarters) situations.
You’re in a “in your face” constrained conflict, for instance, and your limb movement is slightly restricted due to entanglement.
You may also be in a very close range fight without immediate opportunity to attack if you were to smash into a wall but remain on your feet linked to each other at ECQ, or if you ended yourself in a horizontal grapple on the ground.
This UC presentation provides useful information for training a successful Counter Response in such a situation, and it looks like it will be a fantastic supplement to the first three shows in the series.
Enjoy.
