Liu Yanfeng – Fa Men Quan (chi)
Quan Fa Men (Dharma style) Mandarin Chinese Fa Men Quan, one of three native forms in Jiangxi Province together with Zi Men and Ying Men Boxing, is an unique martial art performed solely in Jiangxi Province.
Its origins are unknown, however it is thought to have originated in the southern Shaolin Temple in Fujian Province.
Starting with fundamental methods that improve root (Horse Riding stance), agile footwork, power, striking/kicking ability, hardness, and so on, the style progresses through different empty hand and weapons routines, and eventually to combat practice.
The exercises are separated into two categories: “Galloping Horse,” which emphasizes combat abilities, and “Still Standing,” which emphasizes root, leg strength, and overall strength.
The style stresses natural motions, employs calm, rapid movements, and conceals harshness behind softness.
It uses nimble footwork to approach the opponent from unexpected angles, attacks at close range, and avoids using brute force.
