Matt Hughes – Matt Hughes Story
Matt Hughes’s Story Matt has gone from Japan to Abu Dhabi and all across the United States since his first mixed martial arts bout in 1996 to become the most dominant UFC welterweight champion of all time.
Disc 1: Tale tells the story of Matt’s upbringing. There are interviews with Matt’s twin brother Mark, who could definitely do well in the MMA world, his parents, friends [of which Matt has a lot], and high school and college coaches.
Matt’s first battle, in which he only earned $100, is shown, as well as some brief film from his collegiate wrestling days.
After watching this video, you’ll realize that Matt is a simple man living a charmed existence; he is a man who prioritizes God and family over everything else; and when he’s not helping a friend or making an appearance, you’ll most likely find him bouncing around on one of his tractors or spending time with his family.
Disc 2: Exercise Matt demonstrates his business side and walks you through over two hours of education on how to whoop someone’s butt! The nine-time UFC welterweight champion will begin by teaching you the fundamental ideas of understanding your environment, studying your opponent, and selecting your corner men. Matt will also teach you how to train for an impending bout, cover stand-up combat, kicks, and closing the gap.
Anyone who has seen Matt fight will know that he provides lessons on the ground and pound style for which he is famed, covering take downs, punching on the ground, submissions, and submission defense.
On disc 2, there were some sync issues that I was able to mainly address, but one little anomaly remains, which is near enough that I hope it doesn’t upset you too much.
Matt Hughes is a fantastic champion both inside and outside of the octagon.
He’s down to earth and personable, so if you ever get the chance to meet him, don’t be timid; just walk up and say hello.
