Mike Tyson Career Collection Disk 3
Disk 3 of Mike Tyson’s Career Collection
Fights 36-41, with a few more here and there.
The total duration of the disk is 12 hours, 46 minutes, and 17 seconds.
This DVD contains both original broadcasts in regular definition and replays in high definition. Because they differ in some manner, two versions are sometimes presented (commentary, amount of build-up, etc). At least three of these battles are new to the tracker and should be improvements for the majority of players.

The Fights on Friday Night (42 minutes & 3 seconds)

ESPN 30/30: 42 to 1 (52 minutes & 18 seconds)
We’re accustomed to witnessing the improbable in sports. But the impossible is a very different story. And, while the chances were officially 42 to 1, the improbable happened in a boxing ring in Tokyo, Japan, on February 11, 1990, when James “Buster” Douglas defeated Mike Tyson for the world heavyweight championship.
“42 to 1,” an ESPN “30 for 30” documentary, presents the narrative of how improbable it was. It all begins in Columbus, Ohio, where Douglas grew up as the son of a boxer who trained and coached him to become a top-10 heavyweight contender in the mid-1980s. Of course, it was all in the shadow of “Iron” Mike Tyson’s meteoric ascension to the uncontested title, which made him a worldwide phenomenon. And by the time their match was scheduled, Douglas was considered unimportant, only a stepping stone to larger battles for the champion. However, on the day they met, a chain of remarkable events resulted in an unfathomable outcome.
If you were a sports fan in 1990, you’ll never forget where you were when Tyson-Douglas was announced. Because it was, after all, impossible.
The Director’s Opinion
Buster Douglas is a name that most sports fans are familiar with. They know he knocked out Mike Tyson in one of the greatest upsets in sports history. They don’t know much else about Douglas or his story. With “42 to 1,” our goal was to bring Buster Douglas and his story to life. Most importantly, we wanted to investigate what it takes to accomplish something amazing that would be remembered for as long as sports are discussed. Almost since the moment Tyson was declared the winner, the tale of the fight has been portrayed from Tyson’s perspective, with Douglas’s part in his own victory being reduced. “42 to 1,” we think, is a type of corrective measure and tribute to one athlete’s reluctance to conform to the expectations of others.
Mr. Henry Tillman (4 hours, 49 seconds)
The first HBO telecast.
It was difficult to decide which version of the following fight should be included on this DVD, so I included both. The quality is comparable, however the lengths differ:
Stewart, Alex (50 minutes & 41 seconds)
Version 1: The first HBO broadcast (slightly better quality than the next version).
Stewart, Alex (59 minutes & 54 seconds)
Version 2: HBO’s initial broadcast (longer duration than the previous version).
Donald Ruddock (one hour, six minutes, and 38 seconds)
For maximum coverage, the full-broadcast (3 dvds) was edited (A HD version appears on the next disk).
ESPN NOW (18 minutes & 55 seconds)
Post-fight coverage of Tyson vs. Ruddock.
The total duration of the disk is 12 hours, 46 minutes, and 17 seconds.
