Biography of Rick Young
Rick Young has been involved in martial arts training since 1975.
Rick began his training with Shaun Shanley before moving on to Wado Ryu Karate with sensei Hamish Adam, as well as boxing and grappling.
Rick initially met and became a pupil of the legendary Dan Inosanto in 1979, when he was seventeen years old.
Rick traveled to Los Angeles, California, in 1984 to study with Guro Inosanto and other well-known martial artists.
Rick has visited the Inosanto academy at least once, if not twice, a year since then.
Rick was given his full instructorship in Jeet Kune Do, Jun Fan Gung Fu, and Filipino martial arts by Sifu Inosanto in 1995 (the diplomas were backdated to 1993).
He was the first person outside of the United States to receive this honor.
Rick has trained and taught in Australia, the United States, Brazil, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, France, and across the United Kingdom.
He has appeared in various martial arts magazines, including Martial arts illustrated, Combat, Grappling, Fighters, and Fighting arts worldwide.
Rick lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he trains and teaches.
