Scott Sonnon was given the Honorable Master of Sport for his accomplishments to his sport while serving as the USA National Sambo Team Coach and Champion (the official martial art form of Russia and the third type of world wrestling recognized by FILA). Scott began intensive study and application in professional sports and the actual world of military and martial art fighting after being introduced to kettlebell lifting in Russia in 1996 for sport-specific applications in Sambo and combat-applications with the Russian Special Forces (Spetsnaz). Scott trained with two of the most well-known kettlebell lifting teachers, Valery Fedorenko and Pavel Tsatsouline.
Scott created a unique coaching method centered on teaching motor development in a universally successful manner that all individuals can benefit from, not just the elite 2% who can learn simply by replicating a technique, as a result of his early physical and learning impairments. In 2007, he was appointed Combat Advisor for the World Kettlebell Club (WKC), and he devised the WKC’s Official Kettlebell Warm-up and Cool-down Programs, which he currently teaches globally with Kettlebell World Champion Record Holder, Valery Fedorenko. Fedorenko designated Scott as his first “Master Coach” in 2008 in recognition of his educational contributions to kettlebell lifting. Scott currently travels the world teaching his well-known Circular Strength Training System, as well as the Kettlebell Foundation principles you will master here.
