Shihan Tabura was born and reared in Hawaii, where he began his martial arts training in a backyard dojo under the guidance of his cousin.
Ted later discovered the Okinawa-te dojo, led by another Hawaii-born master, Shihan Gordon Doversola, after moving to Southern California.
Tabura met John Louis, his final instructor in Okinawa-te, while training in the Okinawa-te dojo.
Master Tabura has made martial arts his way of life.
Shihan Tabura competed in tournaments for many years, winning several awards across the world.
